Well it's been a busy summer and only recently has Hastymail work begun to pick back up. Starting with a security issue that allows valid Hastymail users to sneak there own commands to the IMAP or SMTP server. I would not call it critical but I would recommend that everyone patch there setup. The patch is only two lines added and one removed so it's pretty simple. You can read all the details and get the patch here: Hastymail security page. Thanks to Vicente Aguilera Diaz for informing us about these issues. I considered trying to get a 1.6 release out with these fixes, and I will be doing so very soon, but there are still a few issues I want to address before 1.6 will be ready. Because of a change of jobs I may have missed some bug reports or email and if so I' very sorry. My sourceforge address, sailfrog@users.sourceforge.net, is working correctly now so don't hesitate to resend anything if you think I may have missed it

CVS at sourceforge is down (again) and it looks like it will remain down for a few more days. There are still a few unresolved issues with the current codebase but they are steadily being addressed. Hopefully CVS will be back up soon and the as yet uncommited fixes will be commited and I will post a new snapshot.

Things keep on moving in CVS. Yesterday I finished digging some very deeply embedded HTML output from the core code and moved it to the templates. *Very* little, if any, remains in the core code. The latest change effects only the message view page and unfortunately makes this template quite a bit more complex. I have been considering writing some generic functions for use in the templates to help simplify the code. For example if I wrote an inline function for the HTML generation I just moved it would shorten the message view template by at least 50 lines. The downside to this is that it would also limit the ability of the template designer to customize certain aspects of the interface unless they removed the functions calls. Regardless I forsee creating some "template helper functions" after 1.6 in an effort to make our templates a bit more user friendly.

After much delay I finally squeezed in some time for a site update. Most of the content is the same though I have removed some of the out of date screenshots. I hope you like the new look! Lots going on in CVS over the last few months since 1.5 was released. Far too much to list here but you can check out the full changelog here. Very few remaining issues to be dealt with before 1.6 comes out, though I want the dust to settle on some new features before we put the next release together. Grab a dev-CVS snapshot, give the latest a try, and be sure to let us know what you think!
